At Baptism, we begin a life-long journey and a way of life. At Confirmation, the graces received in Baptism are sealed with the reception of the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The words that Jesus shared with his disciples at Pentecost apply to each one of us at Confirmation, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses (Acts 1:8).
In Arundel & Brighton diocese the Sacrament of Confirmation is typically received by young adults, who are in Year 10 / age 14-15, baptised, and prepared with the help of the parish community and Catholic secondary schools.
So, as always, I would like to invite young people to ‘come and see’ where things might lead - the end is not compulsory or guaranteed. Just as we prepare couples for marriage in order to enable them to be able to say “Yes" to the question “Are you ready...?” So too, we will work towards the point when any young person will be able to say “I’m ready.” Ready to take my faith more seriously; more personally; more affectively.
If you want to discern with others if receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation is what God is calling you to, then please complete the below form and one of the Confirmation Catechists (teachers/guides) will be in touch.
