You may remember that I published here a letter from a parishioner suggesting that we need a forum to discuss questions of interest. I have had a number of comments from different parishioners, and I think that it would be a good idea to put something in place. In the new year I hope to arrange an occasional evening when a particular topic could be discussed. We would need to invite a speaker with particular competence to present the teaching of the Church, and to put it into context. There would be an opportunity for questions and discussion. I would be happy to take some sessions myself, but depending on the subject matter, we would need to bring in speakers with specialist knowledge.
At this stage I would invite your suggestions for topic for discussion. You may prefer to submit suggestions anonymously. All you need to do is to put your suggestion in an envelope marked “Discussion group” and either hand it in at the office or simply through the letterbox. I see this as an opportunity for us to learn more about the Teaching of the Church and its implications for our daily lives. I will wait to hear from you.
